Who you are today is worth documenting.

I haven't posted a blog in ages and it's one of the things I really want to be better about. Something has been on my mind and I just wanted to hop on real quick and type it out.

Lately I have had several mamas contact me and say they are interested in a photo session, but not yet...they want to lose a few more pounds first, or some other excuse. And I just want to say:

Who you are today is worth documenting.

Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Sometimes photographs are all we have left. Don't miss out on being in the picture. Do it for your family, do it for yourself. Your babies won't always be this little.

Be in the pictures.

Karla + Kaiden

This gorgeous woman is a former US Army helicopter pilot and founder of her own travel company! So awesome. Before coming to Hawaii on vacation, she asked some of her Army friends if anyone knew of a portrait photographer on O'ahu. Somehow, someone knew my husband and knew that I was a photographer stationed here;  It's amazing how we've made connections we didn't even know we made. I'm so glad that our paths crossed and that I was able to photograph this amazing woman and her adorable son for their first ever professional portraits. Here are just a few of my favorites from this mommy + me session.

Jessica is one of the sweetest people I've met and she also happens to be a super talented photographer. You can follow her beautiful work here.

I had so much fun photographing her lovely, growing family!! I'm so glad we were able to document not only her beautiful belly, but also their last family portraits as a family of 4.

Here are a few of my favorites. enjoy!

This family is GORGEOUS.

I love photographing toddlers and baby Rion could not be more precious. I have a million favorites from this session, but here is just a small sample of their gallery. enjoy!

Let them be little...

These kids were SO much fun to photograph and they are SO adorable. Their amazing Mama was all for letting them do their thing and explore, dance on the beach, build a sand castle...it definitely kept the shoot relaxed and stress free, which allowed their personalities to really shine through. I filmed video clips during this session and I cannot wait to put it all together for a short film. Here are just a few of my favorites from this lifestyle beach session. enjoy!

Here are some of my favorites from my very first 'day in the life' session. These types of shoots are documentary in nature and very true to life. I'm basically a fly on the wall...except, the kids did notice me at times. haha!

I talked to Amanda before our shoot; asking questions about what she would want to remember when her kids are grown. I kept her answers in mind and tried my best to capture their normal routine.

There is something beautiful about our every day lives. I strive to capture the fleeting moments of my own children's littleness...

I'm now offering that same point of view to clients.

tiny hands playing with toys, the eagerness to help Mama bake, earning a sweet treat for using the potty, riding on daddy's shoulders at the playground...

what special moments, big or small, do you want to remember when your own children are grown?

a short film from playtime. :)

My sweet son is 4 weeks old today! Here are just a few of his newborn photos. :)

To my family/friends who may see this, I have had these birth announcements for weeks and still have not sent them out...but I did manage to buy stamps today, so I'm one step closer! ;)

Garrett Bret

How gorgeous is this family?! I LOVE doing in home sessions, especially with newborns. There's no need to get all dressed up, no hunting for the perfect location, no posing...it's just you living your beautiful life and me there capturing little moments you don't ever want to forget.

The big laugh that escapes when you hear your tiny babe filling up his diaper...your sweet daughter styling your hair with a clothespin...how tiny and perfectly your son fits into your husband's hands...breathing in that newborn goodness and wishing time could slow down just a little bit...

what special moments do you always want to remember?

Sweet baby James

OH, boy! The moment I saw James, my eyes filled with tears. I have never seen such a tiny baby in my entire life. He is 5 pounds of absolute perfection! Taylor & Janice have only been parents for two weeks, but they're already amazing at it. My heart is so happy for this beautiful family!! Here are a few of my favorites from their lifestyle newborn session. enjoy!
